Preamble
This charter governs the (PLACEHOLDER) server — Rideout FC is coming back together, plus new trainers who find their way in. Fun way to engage with other players in and out of the Rematch scene. This rule board exists so all of us can play with different play styles and share one world without one person's fun costing someone else's. This rule set is written to be light, not lawyerly: enough structure to keep gyms fair and battles clean, not so much that logging in feels like clocking into work.
All content below is set in place by the Operator team and stays theirs to amend. If something in here stops making sense once real people are playing under it, that's a reason to bring it to an Operator — not a reason to route around it quietly.
Operator Authority
Who tf is actually gonna decide these things, and how the rule changes??
- All server rules, disputes, and logistics run through the Operator team — This charter is theirs to write and rewrite.
- A rule is added, changed, or repealed when ALL Operators agree. Ties get kicked to Crim, as the person who stood the server back up.
- Anyone can propose a new rule or flag a broken one — bring it to any Operator rather than a general chat announcement, so it doesn't get lost.
- Operators moderate day-to-day (see Article VI); Crim keeps final say only for disputes the Operators can't settle among themselves.
Four people deciding by majority means no single Operator can ban a friend or rewrite the gym rules on a whim — but it still moves fast enough that a bad rule doesn't sit broken for a long ass time.
World & Waystones
Fast travel, land, and where the line on automation sits.
Waystones
Player-placed Waystones are restricted to Operator-designated key locations only — Main Town, the Main End Portal, and any other landmark the Operators formally add. This was a collective call: free-placement Waystones flatten the world and kill the reason to build anything outside spawn.
- Want a new stop added? Petition an Operator with the location — new gyms and league landmarks are the expected reason to add one.
- No personal Waystones at a base "just for me." If it's not on the approved list, it doesn't get a stone.
Building & land
- No griefing, no taking from chests, PCs, or ranches that aren't yours — "we're all friends" is not standing permission.
Automation & tech mods
The modpack we chose (Cobbleverse) has plenty of automation — farms, storage, smelting, the works. All of it is allowed by default, but Operators reserve the right to cap or shut down a specific setup that trivializes progression for everyone else or drags server performance down. If you're about to build something at a scale that would make a normal player feel like the game stopped mattering, run it past an Operator first — same spirit as the Waystones call.
The Monotype Gym League
Eighteen types, one gym leader each, one themed house to defend.
- Each gym leader claims exactly one Pokémon type and builds a gym house themed around it — architecture, decor, and battle arena all reading as that type.
- Only one leader per type, claimed first-come with an Operator. Once a type is taken, it's taken until the leader becomes inactive or is removed.
- A gym leader's own team must be mono-type, matching their gym.
- If all 18 types are claimed before someone joins, they are on a waitlist for next open type.

Tournaments: Champion & Elite Four
idk what time we wanna do these for now
- Operators announce each tournament's date and bracket at least a week out.
- Format: bracket among gym leaders plus any challenger who's collected enough badges to qualify. Winner takes Champion; the final four standings become that season's Elite Four.
- Tournaments may be either 1v1 format or 2v2 format depending on the Operators announcement. Tournaments are capped to either level 20, 50, or 100 depending on the Operators tournament.
Battle clauses (tournament matches only) — idk if we'll even use these lol
| Clause | What it means at the table |
|---|---|
| Species Clause | No two Pokémon of the same species on one team. |
| Sleep Clause | Only one opposing Pokémon may be asleep at a time. |
| Evasion Clause | No stacking evasion moves/items (Double Team, Minimize, and the like). |
| OHKO Clause | One-hit-KO moves are banned outright — Fissure, Sheer Cold, Guillotine, Horn Drill. |
| Item Clause | No two Pokémon on the same team holding identical items. |
| Endless Battle Clause | No strategy built to stall a match into an unwinnable draw. |
Fair Play & Conduct
The stuff that keeps this feeling like a friend group and not a Discord you regret joining.
- No external hacks, x-ray, kill-aura, macros, or auto-clickers. Modpack content only.
- No duplication glitches or exploiting bugs for items or Pokémon.
- PvP and Pokémon battles outside official tournament matches are opt-in only — nobody gets forced into a fight.
- Trading is good-faith. Scamming a teammate gets treated the same as griefing.
- Keep chat and voice friendly. Harassment, hate speech, or main-character drama isn't worth losing your spot over.
- New members get this charter before they're whitelisted — a two-minute read, not a quiz.
Enforcement
Escalation is intentionally boring. That's the point.
A direct warning and, where relevant, a rollback (griefed builds restored, duped items removed).
Temporary ban. Length is the agreeing Operators' call based on severity.
Permanent ban — reserved for exploits done in bad faith, harassment, or repeated bans that didn't take.
Technical Configuration
How each rule above actually gets enforced on the server side.
| Rule | Lever | Setting |
|---|---|---|
| Anti-grief (mobs) | gamerule mobGriefing | true |
| Opt-in PvP | pvp | true — enforced as a good-faith rule, not a plugin |
| Death stakes | gamerule keepInventory | false (Operator call) |
| Waystone control | Waystone config / claims | Player-crafted stones restricted or removed; only Operator-placed stones at approved sites |
| One gym per type | Gym claim board | Exactly one leader per monotype — no sharing a type |
| Tournament level cap | Cobblemon config | Tournament host decision |
